Maria tem 58 anos e há mais de 10 convive com dores no corpo. No começo, era só um incômodo nas costas. Depois, a dor começou a aparecer nos joelhos, no pescoço e até nas mãos.
Ela já tinha passado por vários médicos, feito exames e experimentado diferentes tratamentos. Alguns ajudavam por um tempo, mas a dor sempre voltava. O diagnóstico? Artrose, hérnia de disco, fibromialgia… nomes diferentes, mas com algo em comum: Maria sentia que estava cada vez pior.
Quando entrou no consultório, disse quase sem esperança:
“Doutor, eu já tentei de tudo. Acho que para mim não tem mais jeito.”
Expliquei para Maria algo que ela nunca tinha escutado antes: o corpo dela ainda podia mudar. Mas para isso, precisaríamos mudar algo fundamental: a maneira como ela enxergava a dor.
A dor crônica não significa necessariamente que o corpo está se deteriorando. Muitas vezes, é um sistema nervoso hipersensível, reagindo de forma exagerada a estímulos que não deveriam ser dolorosos.
Maria ficou surpresa. Ela sempre achou que a dor vinha apenas das alterações estruturais dos exames. Mas a ciência já mostrou que pessoas com artrose, hérnia de disco e outras condições podem ter pouca ou nenhuma dor, dependendo de como o corpo e o cérebro interpretam os sinais.
Nos primeiros encontros, trabalhamos não apenas com técnicas manuais e exercícios, mas também com educação sobre a dor. Maria começou a entender que evitar o movimento só piorava o problema.
Aos poucos, com um plano de reabilitação personalizado, ela foi reconquistando sua confiança. Pequenas vitórias começaram a aparecer:
